As an Austin native, Courtney (CJ) Shonk is familiar with changing trends as well as the classic styles of this city's artistic culture. Her 24 years experience has given her extensive in-salon work, as well as special projects and events including; SXSW interactive parties, fashion shows, photo shoots, music videos , and short films.

Courtney spent 10 years in a high end salon. She joined the assistant program as an educator after just one year. As an educator she provided knowledge of advanced cutting and coloring techniques. For the last 14 years she has been working as an independent stylist. Courtney now specializes in cuts, Wella color, ombre/balayage, highlights, and Brazilian blow-outs.

Monica Moncivalles currently brings her knowledge and experience to Bex + Co. Salon as a Color and Cut Specialist, with over 20 years of experience in the hair industry. By carefully balancing her creative vision with progressive cutting and coloring techniques, Monica strives to constantly evolve and push the boundaries of originality and function. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Monica received her education under Toni & Guy, Vidal Sassoon, Aveda and Bumble & Bumble. She has demonstrated herself as a talented educator at Aveda Institutes, local beauty schools, and in salon apprenticeship programs, teaching emerging hairdressers the fundamentals as well as creative techniques to expand their potential. Monica’s work has been recognized regionally and nationally in various Aveda Institute sponsored programs and hair shows. Constantly looking to all art mediums for inspiration, she appropriates from various aesthetics ranging from film, music, and underground subcultures to fulfill her artistic vision. Monica maintains her philosophical perspective of edgy rock and roll in all aspects of hairdressing.

Blake has traveled the world not only as a hairstylist and makeup artist but as a theatrical performer. Taking him to many cities within Italy, France, Portugal, England, Spain, Norway, Ireland, Mexico and the U.S. Blake has performed on some of the most incredible and monumental stages. Transpiring from his life-long dance background, Blake has an innate skill and drive of producing amazing shapes in hairstyling with precision in detail and a focus on the quality of movement. As a third-generation hairdresser, I have been doing hair for over 30+ years now, and I still love my job. I was an educator for 9 years with Matrix, and specialized in the art of color placement, highlighting, perms, and a focus on color correction. 

I have a passion for the art of cutting and styling hair to fit the face shape and the individual's personality, and to show the patron how to maintain their own hair at home so they can look "the look" all the time. I also perform a variety of braiding techniques and love putting hair up, for weddings and parties. I also offer fusion extensions as well as the traditional sew-in method.

Brooke Wolfe is a Master Stylist at Bex+Co Salon Barton Hills with over 20 years of experience in the industry.

Brooke is an accomplished professional in both cut and color. She has extensive training in Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, Vidal Sassoon and Toni & Guy. Not only was she the second stylist in Austin to be certified by Brazilian Blowout, she also enjoys working with curly hair.

Her specialty, as she puts it, is “The Perfect Blonde”. Whether it’s bold and bright or an effortless, natural look, she works her magic. She has spent years developing her own unique approach to balayage.

Skyler has always had an eye for style. They were a licensed cosmetologist by the time they graduated high school.  They now balance salon work while pursuing a Social Work degree at UT.  Skyler’s dream is to fuse their two passions into a nonprofit that helps marginalized communities get access to mental health services along with hair care needs.

Skyler is your stylist for shags, pixies, curtain bangs, hand-painted highlights and vivid colors.  Skyler also loves creating specialized and affirming haircuts and colors.  They have found that helping others find their desired look fosters a rewarding sense of community. Skyler prioritizes client relationships and wants every client to feel seen and heard.  They are proud to create a safe, caring and healing environment in the salon chair.

In their free time, you’ll find Skyler on roller skates at the skatepark, studying at a vegan restaurant, or reading contemporary fiction with a coffee.

Jamie, born in Houston, considers herself lucky enough to call Austin her place of residence for over ten years. She has over a decade of experience with hair. Before graduating cosmetology school in 2004, she found that both cut and color were her passion. Her work techniques vary in that she loves taking direction, but also works extremely well with clients who give her creative license. Her specialties include highlights, balayage highlights, ombre, full color, corrective color and cuts that work with the hair's natural texture.

For Crystal, working with hair is a career comprised of strong passion met with exceptional talent and creativity.
